Traditional Chinese theological vocabulary was shaped by Protestant missionaries in the 19th century, producing the Union Version Bible (1919) which remains authoritative for Traditional Chinese congregations. Key terms like 恩典 (en dian — grace), 稱義 (cheng yi — justification), and 救恩 (jiu en — salvation) have precise Traditional Chinese Protestant renderings distinct from Simplified Chinese.
